In September 2010 seven companies within the Prominent Growers Association were presented with the MPS-Fruit & Vegetables Vita Certa certificate, which is the highest level of MPS-Fruit & Vegetables achievable. The other companies within the Prominent Growers Association will shortly also commence the certification process. This involves no fewer than 25 companies at 34 locations. The certification gives a tremendous boost to the sales possibilities for the certified product, since the companies jointly account for 25% of the tomato acreage in the Netherlands. Prominent and MPS have signed the agreement to launch the certification process on Thursday 10 February last.
